Former Students Testimonies

More Student Testimonies

Gina Jeanty’s Testimony I am a former student of Ecole Agape and I am one of the many children Myrtha Manigat used to help a lot, and really a lot. She gave us a very good education, raised us and feed us well in her own house. I used to live in a very poor area. I did not have access to school. I did not have access to food either which is a necessity especially for a child and any human being. Myrtha Manigat, or Manmie as we used to call her, offered me a home, a free school […]

Ecole Agape Gets a New Flash Library and Teacher Training

A recent trip to Haiti included a successful teacher training and a terrific start to Ecole Agape’s Flash Library. When Paul and Elizabeth Wicks of the Reading Room first arrived at Ecole Agape, they found the second floor’s sixth grade classroom cleared out. Chantal Coutard, the niece of the school’s founder, Myrtha Manigat, had decided to install the Flash Library here, where the library was originally located. There’s a nice breeze on the second floor, and the room’s bigger and has more light than the small room that was designated as the clinic and has also been relocated, Chantal said. They moved […]

Ecole Agape Students Tell Their Stories

Because it is true, as former student Marie Michelle wrote: We have Agape love in our hearts. We will not give up. We will not let go. Please find all testimonies as they are added on our Student Testimonies page. I remember we were 25 girls in the house! She  (Manmei) loved us all equally even though it was tough for her to raise alone 25 children in a house.  She would tell us all the time that there are 2 important things in life: Church and School.  The others would come after. I believe this is why she founded Ecole […]

Hurricane Matthew Update

The good news is that Ecole Agape survived hurricane Matthew and everyone is fine. According to Marie-Michele Darbouze, the school was spared any damage. Both the elementary and preschool students are in school. Our monthly check for food, supplies, and teachers’ salaries arrived in Haiti before the storm, so there was no interruption to the students getting their nourishing meal while at school. Other villages were not so fortunate and have suffered immense devastation. As Chantal Coutard wrote to one of the Friends’ members, although the school and the students’ and teachers’ homes did not get hit directly, all of Haiti […]

Ecole Agape is currently held after regular school hours for 3 hours in a nearby building […]

EOR Helps Raise Funds for School of Love

EOR, or “Evidence of Resurrection,” performed on May 13th at The Packing House in Willington, CT, for the audience of supporters. The attendees came to hear great music, enjoy delicious food, and bid on silent auction items, all designed to raise funds for Ecole Agape, or “School of Love.”   The interfaith music group played many songs reminiscent of the songs they played at St. Thomas Aquinas, entertaining everyone present with their wide variety of musical tunes. The silent auction included many wonderful items donated by various people, as well as a sale of nature photos and cards. Dedicated to […]
